O’ Vert

O’Vert is set within one of the oldest docklands of the Port of Ghent, transforming a historic industrial site into a contemporary urban living environment.

At its core, a large central park acts as a green anchor: introducing space, calm, and ecological value into the density of the city. Positioned on the former Meyvaert glass factory site at Dok Noord, the project redefines the area through a balance of sustainability, landscape, and comfortable urban living.

Aerial view of a city waterfront with boats docked, parking lots, modern and historic buildings, and a crane along the water's edge.

O’Vert reactivates a former industrial site, transforming the Meyvaert glassworks into a contemporary residential neighbourhood with a distinct identity.

The name reflects this transformation: a layered reference to water (eau), greenery (vert), and the site’s glass-making legacy. It positions the project with clarity: anchored in context, yet oriented toward a contemporary way of living.

An Integrated Urban Framework

The project is positioned alongside Dok Noord, an established urban hub that has redefined the docklands as a place to live, work, and engage.

As the area transitions toward a low-traffic model, it establishes a quieter, more considered environment where sustainable mobility takes priority.

The development brings together a diverse residential offer , complemented by a limited number of office spaces. At its center, a 4,000 m² public park and shared gardens introduce a strong landscape component, shaping both identity and quality of life.

Designed as a car-free, bike-oriented environment with direct access to public transport, the project is structured around efficiency, accessibility, and long-term sustainability.

Beyond the Frame

In transforming one of the park images from a high-fidelity architectural visualization into a living cinemagraph, our objective was a strategic pivot in perception, moving from 'presenting a built asset' to 'curating a lived experience.'

While the static rendering is beautiful, it cannot capture the ephemeral quality of a perfect afternoon. The cinemagraph introduces a single, hypnotic movement that functions as a behavioral bridge, allowing prospective residents to insert themselves into the scene mentally.

Urban Living, Redefined

The interior design philosophy for O’Vert centers on warm minimalism. In illustrating and doing the concept design for the interiors, we utilized a palette of natural wood, tactile stone, and soft textiles to create a counterpoint to the vibrant, industrious energy of Ghent.

Whether through the rhythmic slanted windows of the upper floors or the floor-to-ceiling glass of the garden levels, we prioritized the play of natural light across different surfaces throughout the day.

From the curved marble kitchen islands to the exposed brickwork on the terraces, every material choice was selected to age gracefully and provide a sense of permanence.

A View of the Future

From the industrial silhouettes of the Ghent port to the historic skyline, O’Vert offers a vantage point like no other. Our visualizations aim to do more than just show a layout; they invite the viewer to imagine the sunset over the city from their own private terrace.

While a single image can capture a moment, our interactive walkthrough of the Penthouse allows you to experience the spatial choreography of the home in real-time.

In a property defined by its unique angles and expansive views, the walkthrough provides a true sense of scale that traditional renders simply can't match.
